Kind, compassionate, and resolute. These are just a few of the words that best describe Rency Jazrelle, a young man from Bintaugon, Poblacion, Libertad, Misamis Oriental, which takes us back to his humble beginnings.
Growing up as an only child raised by a single mother, Rency’s childhood was never been easy. His mother made a tough decision to work overseas as an OFW, leaving him in the care of his grandparents. Despite his parent’s absence, he never once felt incomplete, as his grandparents made sure to surround him with abundant love and support.
Like many young individuals, after completing senior high school, Rency faced uncertainties about his future, unsure of what career path he should take. Undecided, he chose not to enroll in college right away in high hopes that fate would guide him in discovering his true calling.

However, out of all the uncertainties of life, one thing remained certain, and that is his strong trust and faithfulness to God and His timing. He was a devout young member of the Fundamental Baptist Church and his spiritual beliefs became a guiding foundation for his decisions and molded his character.
It was during this time that he met another devout member of the church, Mr. East, a vulnerable 77-year-old Kiwi citizen living alone in the Philippines, who later became a close family friend. As he learns about Mr. East’s situation, Rency, driven by his compassionate nature has offered to become his personal caregiver. “While it is indeed challenging, I must say that I truly enjoy what I do, especially knowing that I am helping someone,” Rency said, showcasing his genuine kindness.
Now at 25, as he looks back on his journey, he realizes how much his experiences have shaped him. Caring for Mr. East deepened his passion for helping others, especially the elderly and vulnerable influencing his decision to resume his education taking programs in community services. Recognizing Rency’s dedication and integrity, Mr. East offered to support him financially, becoming his sponsor. “His investment goes far beyond just money, it is a testament to the trust, connection, and impact one person can have on another’s life,” Rency expressed full of gratitude.
As he moves a step closer to his dreams, he carries with him determination, faith, and the unwavering support of his loved ones. His story is a testament to the transformative power of kindness, patience, and compassion…but above all, the rewards of remaining faithful to God.
